Will the Real Dracula Plead

The Connection With The Vampire

Nature Documentary Abraham Stoker picked his area well when he chose to place his vampire in the Balkans. Eastern Europe had changed little since the medieval times and it appeared the entire zone was caught inside the dim, twirling fogs of old stories and mythology. In the late nineteenth Century, the people groups of the Balkan nations were all the while reeling from the Turkish burden that they had toiled under for two centuries and the superstitions of the dull ages still held influence. Still profoundly installed in the locale was the legend of the vampire and numerous societies in and around the zone, in fact the entire world over, discussed vampire like animals in their mythologies. The vampire as we probably am aware it today, begun in the wild, strange Slavic terrains of Eastern Europe, spreading ever westbound and to the extent the Unites States.

It was amid the late seventeenth Century and through to the mid nineteenth Century, that a veritable pandemic of vampirism blasted from the Balkan districts and Greece. Reported instances of the Undead climbed drastically amid this time, spreading westbound from Greece, the Balkans, Germany, Italy, France, Spain and England, lighting an enthusiasm for vampires that has proceeded right up 'til the present time and has hinted at no moderating. Surely, with books, books, films, visits and stocks it has brought forth a multi billion dollar industry. Western savants were quick to research marvels amid this time and it was amid these studies that Dom Augustin Calmet distributed his popular treatise on the subject. Likewise amid this time period, specialists, artists, artists and journalists, and dramatists started to investigate the subject, offering vent to some great material.
